Mysore Home for the Homeless

A simple, settled day

Nothing grand, and that is the point. A bed, meals, medicines on time, and people who are glad to see you.

A resident sitting outside the home in the winter sun

The open yard

Fresh air, morning sun, and somewhere to sit that is not a hospital corridor or a pavement.

Rest and recovery

Hospital beds and wheelchairs for those who need them, support with moving about, and unhurried mornings for everyone else.

The prayer room, with seating for residents and light through the windows

A room for prayer

A dedicated prayer room within the home, where residents gather through the day.

A quiet corner

Newspapers, radio, and somewhere to sit without being hurried along.

Slow mornings

No one is rushed. Tea, quiet, and a settled start to the day.

Steel bowls of curry and rice on a wooden table

A hot meal, every single day

Home-style South Indian cooking, adjusted for anyone who cannot chew easily or needs a gentler diet, served three times a day.

For many of the people in our care, this is the first meal they have been certain of in a long time.

Festivals are still celebrated here

Ugadi, Dasara, Deepavali, Christmas, and Ramzan, marked with a special meal and a little more warmth than an ordinary day. Small things, but they matter to people who have lost almost everyone to share them with.

Come see the work. Then help us continue it.

Visitors are always welcome. Call ahead on any of our numbers and we will be glad to show you around and talk about how you can help.
