Mysore Home for the Homeless

A trust built on one belief

That no elderly person should be left to face old age with no shelter, no food, and no one to notice if they are unwell.

Mysore Home for the Homeless Charitable Trust is a registered charitable trust in Mysuru that shelters and cares for elderly men and women who have nowhere else to go.

Many are found abandoned or living on the street. Some are brought to us by concerned neighbours, by the police, or by hospitals that have nowhere else to send them once they are well enough to leave, but too frail to fend for themselves.

We take them in without asking what they can pay, because the honest answer is almost always nothing. The trust has been doing this since 2019.

Take care of your parents when they are old, as they did when you were young.

What we refuse to compromise

Dignity before everything

No one in our care is made to feel like a burden. They are looked after the way we would want our own parents looked after.

No one is turned away

We do not ask what someone can pay, or why they have no family left. If they need shelter, we find a way to give it.

Funded entirely by donors

We depend completely on people who give money, food, clothing, medicines, and time, because they believe this work matters.

Who looks after everyone here

Our caregivers, cooks, and volunteers are here every day, doing the unglamorous work of bathing, feeding, and comforting people the world has largely stopped noticing. It is not a large team, and it does not stop.
